Our Story
Establishment
Liberty Saddlery LLC was founded by Hillary Parker and Lauren Sweeney in December 2022. Both women are lifelong equestrians, former event riders, and passionate enthusiasts of horse riding... all too familiar with the struggles of finding the perfect saddle for both horse and rider. What started out as a small favor to a friend quickly escalated into a full time business.

At Liberty Saddlery our priority has always been to serve our clients and customers with our whole heart. Finding the perfect saddle is essential for a happy and successful riding experience... and we understand all too well how difficult saddle shopping can be. That's why we're committed to providing the best possible selection of saddles, as well as the expertise of a well-fitting saddle for your horse and riding style. We were horse lovers and dedicated riders long before we were small business owners.
Expansion
When Sam Baker approached Hillary about the opportunity to acquire Sam's Saddles LLC in February 2023, Hillary leapt at the opportunity to expand her customer base and inventory. Sam had poured her heart and soul into Sam's Saddles, building with integrity and impeccable customer service, and we are grateful for that incredible opportunity! The announcement was made public, on Instagram, in mid-March 2023.

From small beginnings, we have quickly expanded without losing the small business feel and top-class customer service. We are so proud to offer a huge selection of quality saddles, no matter the budget! With multiple arrivals weekly and steady sales, our diverse inventory is always changing.

Experience
With a combined seven decades of experience in the equestrian field, our woman-owned team possesses deep expertise in all things horse-related. Hillary and Lauren's lifelong passion for horses, beginning in their youth and continuing through their professional lives, has cultivated a comprehensive understanding of riding, eventing, and the importance of quality gear.
A BIT ABOUT HILLARY

Hillary is a lifelong equestrian and former upper level event rider. She has high performance expectations in every task she does and a work ethic to match.
Inside Liberty, Hillary's direct and honest approach ensures a positive experience for every customer and consignee. She prioritizes procuring top-quality saddlery, strategically marketing each item, managing a consistently fresh inventory, and maintaining meticulous operational efficiency, all while adhering to timely schedules.

Hillary's life outside Liberty is a lively mix of all things horses, chickens, and cherished family time. She lives by the motto “work hard play hard” and particularly loves spending quality time adventuring in Juneau. Known for her quick wit, optimistic outlook, and competitive spirit, Hillary brings a refreshing energy to every interaction.

A BIT ABOUT LAUREN
​
Lauren's early experiences with horses, from 4-H and Pony Club to caring for them and helping retired racehorses, fostered a deep empathy and understanding of these animals. Volunteering at therapeutic riding centers further illuminated the powerful connection between horse and rider, particularly for clients with disabilities. This foundation has shaped her keen perception of equine behavior and the subtle cues that communicate so much.

Lauren's saddle fitting expertise is grounded in formal training. She completed a comprehensive program with a Master Saddlers Association fitter, gaining two years of practical experience as a fitter trainee under her expert guidance. In autumn 2024, she further expanded her skillset through intensive study with another highly-qualified saddle fitter and saddler, mastering advanced techniques such as panel adjustments, seam stitching, flocking refinement, and leather dyeing. Lauren is committed to ongoing professional development to ensure a comprehensive range of services.

At Liberty, Lauren's passion for horses is evident. She expertly assesses each horse's temperament and behavior, considering its interaction with both its rider and tack. With a knowledgeable and intuitive approach, she creates a calm environment conducive to optimal performance. Lauren's empathetic ear listens to riders' experiences, allowing her to understand the dynamics at play and ensure the perfect fit for horse and rider, ultimately enabling riders to focus on their shared passion.​

Together, Hillary and Lauren's emphasis on leveraging individual strengths is key to their successful operation of this small saddlery business. Their strategic approach positions them to cultivate the customer trust and loyalty essential for long-term growth and sustainability.

SADDLE FITTING SERVICES
Being the best partner for your saddlery needs has always been our goal. As we've continued to learn and grow as a small business, we've intentionally strengthened our ability to provide in-person, professional saddle fitting services for our local equestrians in the following counties of Pennsylvania: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Lancaster, Montgomery, and some surrounding areas. FRESH SADDLE INVENTORY
We offer a carefully curated collection of jump and dressage saddles from top brands, ensuring each saddle meets our high standards of quality and is meticulously maintained. Our inventory is available both online and for in-person saddle fittings. Clients seeking particular saddles are invited to contact us, and we will keep them informed of any new arrivals.
